Do you accept my insurance?
We are now accepting Medicare! We do not yet accept any other insurance policies. At this time, we can accept private payment via cash, check, or credit card. Clients are responsible for the full cost of the session at the time of service. If you are insured, we are happy to provide you with a superbill so you can seek reimbursement from your insurance company. A superbill is not a guarantee of payment, so always check with your insurance company regarding your coverage.
Where are you located?
Sing Speak Swallow does not currently have a physical location. We offer services in the convenience of client homes or online via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. Currently serving the Puyallup, WA area.
Do you treat kids and adults?
Yes! We serve individuals age 5 to 105!
What conditions do you treat?
We help people with voice disorders, chronic cough, stuttering, apraxia of speech, dysarthria (unclear speech), speech sound disorders, learning disabilities, aphasia, and swallowing disorders. A person might have a communication or swallowing disorder due to another diagnosis, like cerebral palsy, brain injury, stroke, or Parkinsonism.
What is a speech-language pathologist (SLP)?
According to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, “Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults.” The term “speech therapist” is interchangeable with “speech-language pathologist.”
I talk fine, why is my doctor referring me to speech therapy?

Why see a speech-language pathologist for swallowing?
Swallow management was added to the scope of practice in the late 20th century. According to a 2001 technical report from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, “Speech-language pathologists have extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and functional aspects of the upper aerodigestivetract for swallowing and speech across the age spectrum....Speech-language pathologists also have extensive knowledge of the underlying medical and behavioral etiologies of swallowing and feeding disorders. In addition, they have expertise in all aspects of communication disorders that include cognition, language, and behavioral interactions, many of which may affect the diagnosis and management of swallowing and feeding disorders.”
